A friend of mine suffers a lot of pain because of interstitial cystitis, and she hasn't found anything that offers much relief. On top of that, she has "fallen into the Medicare 'doughnut hole,' " which means her Elmiron prescription has gotten very expensive. She's struggling to find foods that she can eat safely. Best wishes.
As Jorge always puts it, "I need to be a spartan with my diet to avoid pain". It's not always easy when food carries such a social sigma.
Please help your friend keep a positive outlook. I know that it's difficult, but if she doesn't the "doughnut hole" may be the least of her concerns. Everytime I start to get depressed, I refocus my attention and then count my blessings because I do have a lot to be grateful for.
My best to you and your friend.
